What it is
Firebase is Google's app platform. Builders use Authentication, Firestore or Realtime Database, Storage, and Hosting. Firebase Studio is the newer AI app-building surface in the same family. Firestore is a document database, not Postgres. The Spark plan is free within quotas; Blaze is pay as you go.
Spark is a no-cost quota plan. Blaze adds pay-as-you-go pricing past those quotas. Confirm which products are on Spark before you launch.
Why it ranks
- Auth, document data, and hosting from one console
- Generous starting quotas on the Spark plan
- Firebase Studio is the app-building surface in the same family
Watch outs
- Firestore queries are not SQL
- Blaze billing can surprise you if a quota is unbounded
